ABC 'Compass' films FRM bush course
On Saturday 1 July, ABC TV will screen a documentary about the work of the Finke River Mission on their Compass religious affairs program.
Focusing on one of FRM’s famous ‘bush’ training camps where Indigenous pastors and evangelists come together for one week of fellowship and training in their own language, the ABC production also looks at church and community life at Ntaria (Hermannsburg).
The history of the old Hermannsburg Mission is also a focal point of the film.
The documentary features interviews with Indigenous Lutheran pastors, evangelists, choir members, and FRM pastoral support workers.
In researching the documentary, Compass producers also spent a day at the Lutheran Archives in Adelaide.
