This term the Yirara College community has farewelled our principal of the past four years, Mr Chris England.

The offering from this year’s LCANZ Convention of General Synod in-person meetings is contributing more than $30,000 towards an FRM project producing, revising or reprinting Lutheran song and hymnbooks in Central Australian Aboriginal languages.

In 1976 the Aboriginal Land Rights (Northern Territory) Act was tabled in Federal Parliament, with the intent to grant the Hermannsburg land (Ntaria) as a single title to be held by a single Aboriginal Land Trust.

The families of Yukun, an Aboriginal man shot and killed by police at Uluru almost 90 years ago, have finally been able to lay his remains to rest at the base of the Rock.

Let me tell you a story. It’s a wonderful story, a true Epiphany story.

Melbourne’s city skyline was a stark contrast to the vast verdant landscape of Central Australia for four Aboriginal delegates attending the Lutheran Church of Australia and New Zealand’s 20th Convention of General Synod from 9 to 12 February 2023.

The offering from General Synod will support a Finke River Mission (FRM) project revising and reprinting Lutheran song and hymnbooks in Central Australian Aboriginal languages.
